I’ve never been one to post pics of myself, you know how it is when you lose your looks around 10 years old, but this one has a little bit more than a touch of AI around it, so it’s fine.
When I asked my AI to make some pics of me surrounded by fire, she went wild, and produced five pics, and they will all end up, probably, on flyers for magic shows.
A few of my magical Dear Readers responded to last weeks plea for names for the show, and the comments and messages helped me through my mental block, and about 4.00am one morning it came to me.
I wrote about my flash paper ending, that I’ve used for so long, and again a couple of messages asked the rather wonderful question ‘Why?’ and I immediately set about creating a better ending.
Now, there are a handful of book matches on every table, and inside I’ve written messages- Trust Yourself, Action is All, You Are The Magic, Love Matters Most, that kind of thing.
I tell everyone that we all have a little superpower, we can change how we feel in an instant, just by thinking of a memory, and ask them to think of a wonderful time in their lives, a magical moment, a moment when they were on fire. (I learned this from a marriage counsellor, who asked couples to look at their wedding photo album together, and could tell from their reaction if there was any hope!)
It’s really easy to see when a memory has a positive impact on someone, and I ask them to stand up, then open the book matches and hold them up, and just ask them to focus on one match, and imagine it bursting into flames, asking others to join in.
I talk a bit more, create some intensity, wait for the right moment, and then the matches crackle and pop, exploding into flames. It’s quite a way to end a show.
So, I sent out the pic of me with fire to a new venue that needed it to promote my gig, and got a message back “It looks like you’re on fire, just a head shot will do.” I sent a headshot of me when I was about 7 or 8, along with a gentle reminder of the name of the show - “On Fire”.
All I have for you today, Dear Reader, is a big thank you, for reading this, and for those who comment or message, an even bigger thank you.
You, Dear Reader, are my magic.
